"Runway the Real Way" is "Fashion Diversity on the Inclusive Catwalk." I created Runway the Real Way in response to the marginalization of plus-size models, minorities, and the LGBTQ community in haute couture and the modeling industry. Early in my modeling career, I was often discouraged and ostracized for being a plus-size woman. Runway the Real Way represents my dream to provide a vehicle for celebrating fashion for everyone, regardless of height, weight, body type, race, nationality, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation, because we believe that beauty comes in all shapes, shades, sizes and colors, and everyone should show off that beauty on the runway. As one of the fashion capitals of the world, New York City is also one of the most diverse cities in the world, and, in that spirit, Runway the Real Way marries fashion and diversity to foster inclusion on the catwalk.
The fashion industry is progressed tremendously since I started modeling in the 70s, but I still want to see more equality, variety, acceptance, tolerance, and cooperation on the last bastion of innovative integration, the live catwalk. As curator and producer of this show, I strive to find new and upcoming designers, and young new talent and models. I am also proud to forge partnerships with beauty schools, giving beauty school students that opportunity to gain experience in fashion shows. Since 2012, my company, Catherine Schuller Enterprises, LLC, has produced over 75 shows, and this is only the beginning.
Our website will provide you with more information about my company, our production team, and our modeling, talent and beauty volunteers. Our website will also be regularly updated with new events, news, press and media. Please join me in celebrating fashion diversity on the inclusive catwalk with Runway the Real Way! I hope I will see you at our next event!
